These are the lovely ukueles for loan
Many people own a ukulele, often tucked away at home, whether it was an impulse buy or an unexpected gift. However, they may never have had the opportunity to learn how to play—until now!
Clackmannanshire Ukulele Band (CUB) is committed to bringing music to the community by offering ukulele tuition for all, whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your skills. Our classes take place on Monday nights and are open to everyone, not just band members. See some of our testimonials at the bottom of this page.
Our Courses
We offer three structured courses to suit different skill levels:
1. Beginner Course Held in the Community (7.30-9.00 PM) – Perfect for those new to the ukulele. Learn basic chords, strumming patterns, and simple songs to get you started. You do not need to be in the band to join this course
2. Improver Course held in the community (7.30-9.00 PM) – For those who have grasped the basics and want to develop their playing with smoother chord changes and more advanced strumming.
3. Intermediate Course held in Rehearsal Hall (6:30–7:30 PM) – Designed for players who are confident with the fundamentals and want to explore more complex chord progressions, fingerpicking, and musical techniques.
Learn with the Band
On completion of the Beginners Course students are invited to join the Band but this is not a requirement. This provides a great opportunity to build confidence, learn through experience, and enjoy making music with others.
Teaching in the Community
In addition to our Monday night classes, we actively teach in the wider community, bringing ukulele lessons to schools, local groups, and events. Our goal is to make music accessible to everyone, no matter their age or background.
Our Teaching Approach
We use simple chord sheets rather than traditional music notation. This hands-on method allows students to learn a new song each session, helping them build chord knowledge and confidence naturally.
Instrument Loans
For those who don’t yet own a ukulele, loan instruments are available for both students and full members. These can be taken home for practice, as regular playing is essential for progress. Once a student reaches a reasonable playing standard, they will be required to return the loaned instrument and purchase their own. Guidance will be provided on choosing a suitable ukulele.
