Who are we?

The Clackmannanshire Ukulele Band (CUB) is a friendly group of music lovers who enjoy playing, singing, and sharing the joy of the ukulele with our local community.

In March 2025, the running of the group was passed from our founder to a small but enthusiastic committee who now help keep the music going week after week. Together we create the magic that keeps the band running smoothly.

Our committee members are:

Linda – Chairperson & Digital Media
Pauline – Vice Chair & Social Secretary
Chris – Gig Wrangler

We also have a Treasurer, Emma, to ensure all monies received and spent are well scrutinised.

We are based at the Johnstone Arms in Alva, where we meet every Monday evening for our regular play-along sessions. We also host a Jam Night every second Thursday of the month, which is a relaxed evening of music, fun, and sometimes a few surprises!

We love getting out into the community and performing around Clackmannanshire. From local events to community gatherings, we enjoy bringing a bit of musical cheer wherever we go.

If you’d like to book us for an event check we are always happy to bring a few ukuleles and plenty of smiles.

Whether you’re an experienced player, a complete beginner, or just someone who enjoys good music and good company, you’ll always receive a warm welcome at CUB.

Where and when do we play?

The Band will meet for Rehearsals on a Monday night at the Johnstone Arms in Alva at 7.30pm - 9.30pm As we are a non-profit organisation and to cover our operational costs and tuition by professionals, our fees are £5.00 per month by Direct Debit or Standing Order, which ever you prefer. At the back of the pub there are plenty of parking spaces, also on Alva High Street. In addition the bus stop is a two minute walk away and on the major routes. This venue has the best atmosphere yet — playing for local people and soaking up their wonderful compliments makes it feel like home.
